Oak park newspaper duke it out over snooze youtube video

The Oak Park Oak Leaves newspaper captured on video a shot of their rival the Wednesday Journal newspaper's beat reporter at a village board meeting dozing off ... and then put it on YouTube ... with a baby lullaby music softly playing int he background.

Here's the link to the Youtube video ...

with this commentary from the Oak Leaves:

"The Oak Park Village Board meeting March 23 was apparently a Village "Bored" meeting for the reporter at the Wednesday Journal. They say the news never sleeps, but obviously journalists do sometimes... For more, read http://blogs.pioneerlocal.com/thenews... "

Instead of slamming the Oak Leaves, the rival Wednesday Journal, which often uses a sledge hammer to slam others, took it all in stride, responding with their own humorous YouTube video takeoff on journalists dozing ... set to what sounds like cowboy music?

The Wednesday Journal video showed reporters (presumably their own) sleeping at their desks with this commentary:

"Last week, our intrepid Oak Park Village Hall reporter, Marty Stempniak - also the new editor of Viewpoints - nodded off during a village board meeting. Been there. Done that. Seen others do the same. Never thought to film such a gotcha moment and put it on YouTube. That was the brainstorm of an Oak Leaves reporter, on the job the next day."

It makes for great viewing and reading ... but man, I would hate to have my mug videotaped sleeping at a board meeting ... or was it an Oak park bored meeting?

Is the beginning of a high profile newspaper war. "Drawwwww, pardner!"
